Source: nola.com - Feb 13, 2017

Staring down a $304 million deficit with 4 1/2 months left in the fiscal year, the Legislature convenes in special session Monday (Feb. 13) at 6:30 p.m. to rebalance Louisiana government's $27 billion operating budget. Gov. John Bel Edwards has proposed spending cuts to hospitals, State Police, the attorney general's office and the courts, along with moving $119 million into operations from the state's "rainy day fund."

Edwards plans to address a joint session of the Legislature at 7 p.m. The Senate seems generally agreeable to his proposals, its leaders say.
