US Taxpayer Group Calls For Regular Tax Code Reviews

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) has said that the US Government should mandate a regular review of the tax code.

The suggestion came during a hearing held by the House Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee on December 14 on the Internal Revenue Service's taxpayer services.

The NTU told the hearing that taxpayers now have access to fewer taxpayer assistance centers and fewer call center operators. It added that the way IRS undertakes audits and resolves disputes can cause unnecessary distress for taxpayers.
