Louisiana historians love federal historic tax credits and what they've done over the years to breathe new life into aging historic buildings.

The Shreveport City Council likes them too — so much that it passed a resolution Tuesday urging President Donald Trump to keep federal historic tax credit program.

The president and GOP leaders in Congress are reported to be close to announcing a federal tax overhaul plan. Most attention has focused on reducing corporate and individual federal income tax rates, but lawmakers may target some tax deductions for elimination as part of the plan.
