Russians ask to watch Louisiana polls; Schedler, politely, declines

The Russians aren't coming.
Not after Secretary of State Tom Schedler politely turned down their request in September to monitor Louisiana's election polls on Nov. 8.
The consul general of the Russian Federation, Alexander Zakharov, had asked Schedler to allow one of his officers to monitor a polling location "with the goal of studying the US experience in organization of voting process during the United States Presidential Elections."
Schedler replied that because of the devastating August floods he wouldn't be able to honor that request.
