Letters: Don't want your property taxes increased in Louisiana? Vote yes to Amendment No. 6

On the upcoming Nov. 6, ballot, please consider voting yes for Constitutional Amendment No. 6, the last of the amendments on the ballot.
Constitutional Amendment No. 6 is designed to buffer homeowners with existing homestead exemptions from crazy increases in their property tax assessments.
We’ve seen assessments double overnight in neighborhoods where Short Term Rentals and other changing economic conditions pushed up assessments — and, thus, property taxes. CA 6 allows homeowners with a Homestead Exemption to request any increase of 50 percent or more be phased in over four years.
