It's that time of year again. The first named tropical storm is in the Atlantic and Gulf Coast residents are exercising their diaphragms for the collective breath-holding that accompanies each hurricane season. Getting its jump on the prep work, Jefferson Parish government has sent out its annual encouragement to local businesses to update the placards they need to return after an evacuation.
jefferson parish officials are encouraging critical businesses to make sure their re-entry placards are up to date before the hurricane season begins June 1.

The re-entry placards have been issued since 2007 to let crucial businesses and emergency personnel return to set up before the general populace comes home.

Parish President John Young's administration is asking qualifying businesses to visit www.jumpstartjefferson.com to make sure their ducks are in a row before the season starts on June 1.
