Christmas might be coming early: Louisiana mailing out $15 million in unclaimed money

BATON ROUGE, La. —

If you weren't a lucky lottery winner last week, you still might get free money courtesy of the state of Louisiana.

At least 85,000 unclaimed property checks will be mailed beginning next month to residents who are owed up to $1,500 each, the Louisiana Department of the Treasury said in a news release.
