What are corporations looking for when it comes to research? How does a company find the scientist whose work can solve the company's particular challenge? How can a university researcher pitch a company or industry on a technological solution?

About 200 people representing 100 universities and 60 companies from around the world are meeting in Baton Rouge this week to consider those and dozens of other questions. The questions, from both the academic and industry side, were part of the University Industry Demonstration Partnership's general meeting, which began Monday and ends Thursday. LSU is the meeting's host.

The organization was founded more than 10 years ago with the goal of increasing the success of university-industry collaborations and research projects. The questions help identify issues affecting university-industry relations, share information and develop new approaches to work together. The meeting had breakout sessions for the chemical, energy, life science, agriculture and information technology industries.
