Tax Relief for Hurricane Isaac Victims

Source: taxtopics.revenue.louisiana.gov - Sep 6, 2012

To all of our clients, we hope that Isaac did not cause too much damage to your personal or business property. We would like to take this time to mention a few IMPORTANT announcements.

We have been informed that as a result of the storm, our area is being allowed an extension until January 11, 2013 to file 2011 tax returns. Please note that this is for corporations and individuals that previously obtained an extension for filing their returns by the original extension dates of (9/17/12 or 10/15/12). In addition, if any of you make estimated payments, the 3rd quarter payment has been included with this deadline extension. The IRS will abate any interest, late-payment or late-filing penalty that would otherwise apply.

On a separate note, our payroll clients should note that the IRS is waiving failure-to-deposit penalties for federal employment and excise tax deposits normally due between 8/26/12 - 9/10/12 as long as the payments are made by 9/10/12.

If any of you are interested, our office has some organizers to help you document your loss due to the storm for this year's tax return. Stop by our office to get your copy while supplies last Monday - Friday (9:00 am - 5:00 pm).
