The Lens: Treme home built using affordable housing grant is now a $400-a-night Airbnb

A home in the Treme neighborhood is at the center of controversy for being listed as a short-term rental on Airbnb despite being built using grants for affordable housing in New Orleans.

An investigative report from The Lens revealed a home at 1601 Dumaine Street was originally one of the historic homes former Mayor Mitch Landrieu approved of preserving and moving from the site of where the new Veterans Administration hospital would be built in 2010.
