U.S. Senator John Kennedy wants the federal government to stop paying dead people. Those are his exact words when he describes a bill he recently co-authored with other lawmakers.

He calls it a bipartisan effort that promises to curb wasteful government spending and fraud.

According to the freshman Senator from Louisiana the Social Security Administration alone made 9.8 billion dollars in improper payments in 2015. A figure he believes will continue to increase unless something is done about it.
