The National Weather Service reissued its flood warning for Baton Rouge and the River Parishes area Tuesday (Aug. 16), extending the warning area downriver to include part of LaPlace along Interstate 10 and part of Reserve. The new warning is in effect until 3 p.m.

"Due to the unprecedented nature of the flooding and continued reports of water slowly rising, we are becoming more concerned that some areas not included in the current warning may see at least some water," meteorologist Danielle Manning told emergency managers and television meteorologists on the service's online chatroom. "This is primarily for the northern reaches of LaPlace."
