A tale of two tax plans: Studies show impacts Nonpartisan group compares Trump and Clinton proposals

One day before the 2016 presidential election, neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump appear to have addressed fundamental flaws in their tax plans that several experts say would exacerbate the nation's growing national debt crises.

Clinton's plan to tax the nation's highest earners would effectively be neutralized by her spending promises, whereas Donald Trump's tax plan would raise taxes for at least 1.5 million New Yorkers and add more than $20 trillion to the national debt in two decades, according to an array of studies recently released by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, a partnership between the Urban Institute and Brookings Institution.
